EXCELLENCE OF CONSULTING SERVICES

Working In Details and Respects

lap lap lap

The Leather Working Group (LWG) :
−The Leather Working Group (LWG) was formed in April 2005 to promote sustainable and appropriate environmental stewardship practices within the leather industry. The group endeavours to promote improvement in the tanning industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities by bringing visibility to best practices and providing guidelines for continual improvement.
Tanning key process :
− The Tanning Industry is a potentially pollution-intensive industry. Environmental Concerns in a Tannery include Waste Water, Solid Waste, Air Pollution, Soil Protection and Health and Safety Aspects. Contamination of Soil and Groundwater can be caused through accidental releases, spillages and leakages of certain agents as well as by the treatment of Effluents and Waste. About 80-95% of world Tanneries use Chromium (III) as their tanning agent and it is proved to be toxic for the aquatic life and Chromium(VI) is furthermore harmful since its carcinogenic and cause adverse effects in Human, Plant and Aquatic Life. Tanning is a key process of making leather from the skins of animals, the hides. The tanning process uses chemicals and considerable amounts of water.
Developed :
−. The Leather Working Group has developed guidelines/protocols for how our leather suppliers should measure the environmental performance of their tanneries.
Protocol :
− The protocol is intended to provide suggested guidelines for the environmental performance of tanneries. LWG was developed and reviewed by tanners, brands and industry experts to ensure adequacy and technical feasibility. The Critical Sections of LWG include Restricted Substance Management, Operating Permits, Energy Consumption, Air Emissions, Waste Management, Environmental Management Systems, Water Usage, Chrome Management And Effluent Treatment. Participation in the LWG Process has not only reduced the Environmental Footprint of the participating Tanneries but also contributed to an improvement in Quality as a result of the greater control and more rigorous analysis that members exercise in order to ensure LWG Compliance.

 BENEFITS OF LWG CERTIFICATION
Improved Business Performance  Improved Environmental Performance
Reduced Operating Costs  Greater International Acceptance & Competitive Advantage
Improved  Risk Management  Reduced cost of compliance with Customer  Specifications
Improved Stakeholder Relationships  Continual Improvement & Customer  Satisfaction
Improves Business Performance  Business Sustainability & Continuity

Re-Audit: :
−The audit result is valid for 24 months unless evidence becomes available to suggest that the audit result is no longer valid. A tanner may be re-audited within 24 months.
Cleaner Production Through 4R Concept: :
−Cleaner Production is one of the tools which has lot of bearing on Environmental Pollution Control. It is also seen that the approach is changing with time that is dumping-to-control-to-recycle-to prevention implicating Resource Conservation, Waste Treatment and Disposal. We can initiate a cleaner production technology through the 4R concept which endorses utilization of waste as by products to the extent possible that is Reduce, Recycle, Recover, Reuse and Recharge.
Pollution Prevention and Waste Minimization: :
−Pollution Prevention and Waste Minimization are terms that refer to the practices that reduce or eliminate the amount of pollutants which would have entered any waste stream or that would have been released into the environment prior to recycling, treatment, or disposal.
Source Reduction: :
−Source Reduction is the first line of defence in the battle of increasing waste generation and fewer waste management options. Key components of Source Reduction include Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, Reuse of Materials, Waste Exchanges and Management Practices that create less waste. The adoption of Source Reduction approach is usually encouraged because it is often the most cost-effective option as it may reduce Raw Material Losses, Energy and Water Consumption, the reliance on expensive "end-of-pipe" treatment technologies and disposal practices.
"Why Global Brands are Supporting LWG?": :
−All the global brands intend to reduce their environmental impact by making better manufacturing choices and producing durable products that meet the consumers' needs. The Production of Leather is an Energy, Water and Chemical Intensive Process hence their commitment to reduce the environmental footprint. Most of the Global Brands believe in sourcing leather from a supply chain that values creating long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits. In support of this, they commit to source Leather from Tanneries that achieve LWG Certification and demonstrate Environmental Best Practices. All these Global Brands works with the Leather Working Group on improving hide traceability. Their goal is to ensure that the hides sourced to produce Leather do not come from newly deforested lands in endangered forests. Through individual agreements from their suppliers and improved traceability audits through the Leather Working Group Assessment, they are improving their capabilities to ensure that their hide sourcing does not support environmentally-destructive practices.

ISO 14001 Consultancy Service

ISO 14001 Consultancy Service
− ISO 14001 is the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems.

Business Social Compliance Initiative

−Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) was founded in 2003 for the purpose of developing the tools and procedures for the European Business Social Compliance Programs. Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is the common European platform of retailers, industry and importing companies for monitoring and improving social standards in supplier countries for all consumer goods. The BSCI is based on the labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and other important international regulations like the UN Charter for Human Rights, as well as on national regulations. The Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) was officially launched on 30 November 2004. It represents a coordinated effort by the European retail industry to implement a harmonized code of conduct and improve working conditions in supplier countries on a voluntary basis. The driving force behind the BSCI is the Brussels -based Foreign Trade Association (FTA), which is the association for European commerce lobbying particularly on foreign trade issues.
Benefits of the BSCI:

The benefits of the BSCI as a broad and comprehensive monitoring system for social standards in the supply chain are numerous

−Synergy effects, reduction of multiple auditing thereby reducing costs are one characteristic. Factories/companies which are being audited can improve their competitiveness through improved social standards as better working conditions and an improved management system leads to better product quality, higher productivity, fewer work accidents, less sick leave producing more highly motivated workers and lower staff turnover. The result of this is an improvement ethically, but also economically for both involved employers as well as employees. The economic advantages in this respect - in parallel taking into account the objectives to reduce excessive overtime and raise salaries where necessary, have been shown in research studies in this field. Therefore, benefits of the individual company also have a positive effect on the broad public.
Does the BSCI provide a certification?
−The BSCI is not a certification system and therefore does not issue a certificate. The BSCI provides a specific process with uniform management instruments for Members, suppliers, auditors and qualifiers. This approach ensures uniform audit procedures and evaluation and therefore comparability of the results. If I do not get a certificate what do I receive as proof of the audit? The cover page of the audit report outlining the results and the validity of the audit can be displayed in the factory premises and be used as proof of the audit.
Products covered by the BSCI:
−Audits within the BSCI can be conducted in any production facility worldwide. The type of articles covered by the BSCI varies widely. There are quite a number of department stores as members, who sell all sorts of soft goods, clothing, home textiles, small appliances, toys, and accessories. There are also members that focus on one particular product group, for example clothing stores, shoe retailers, baby products, or sports goods. For the implementation of the BSCI in the food industry, the BSCI has developed a special module for the primary production (farms).
BSCI Social Requirements:
−Management Practice.
Documentation.
Working Time
Remuneration.
Child labour/Young Labour
Forced Labour/Discrepancy Measures/Prison Labour.
Freedom of Association and Collective Bargain.
No Discrimination.
Working Conditions.
Health and Social Facilities.

The Ethical Trading Initiative

The Ethical Trading Initiative:
The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) is a ground-breaking alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations. We work in partnership to improve the lives of poor and vulnerable workers across the globe who make or grow consumer goods - everything from tea to T-shirts, from flowers to footballs.
What is ethical trade?
− Ethical trade means that retailers, brands and their suppliers take responsibility for improving the working conditions of the people who make the products they sell. Most of these workers are employed by supplier companies around the world, many of them based in poor countries where laws designed to protect workers’ rights are inadequate or not enforced.
−Companies with a commitment to ethical trade adopt a code of labour practice that they expect all their suppliers to work towards. Such codes address issues like wages, hours of work, health and safety and the right to join free trade unions.
Why is ETI needed?
‘Doing’ ethical trade is much harder than it sounds. Modern supply chains are vast, complex and span the globe. Labour issues are themselves challenging. For example, what exactly is a living wage'? What should a company do if it finds children working in a supplier's worksite? Evicting children from the workplace can, paradoxically, make their lives worse.

ERP for Tannery, Footwear & Textiles Industries

Introduction

Leather ERP offers a world-class and contemporary information infrastructure to a leather business.

We understand Leather business with Tannery, Garments, Footwear, upholstery and exotic leather sectors is extensive export market and has its own challenges. They have very exacting requirements for quality, delivery time lines, accuracy and promptness of information. The members of the industry want to retain their customers and also gain new ones. Supply chain integration and a wider control on the supply chain gives them a lot of strength. The backward and forward integration is the solution. However, the units are not necessarily located under one roof. A tannery requires a different handling than a leather goods unit or a leather garment units or a Footwear unit. The members are in acute need of one solution provider who can not only understands the nuances of each activity but has ready solution for the same.

Leather ERP addresses the unique needs of the industry by giving a full control on the operations of a typical export company from the time they submit a quote and sample to getting a satisfied and happy customer.

While the software is being used for the day to day working, Microsoft Dynamics NAV as a reliable and integrated framework manages the inventory, purchase, sales, customer relationships, collectable control and meets the statutory requirements of the business.

The natural integration of the solution with Microsoft Office which includes Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook (the communication interface) helps the organization in leveraging the information in the integrated solution in multiple ways.

The ease with which add on components like HR & Payroll, multiple level authorizations, subcontracting can be added gives the comfort to the organization that the solution will grow in number of users as well as in functionality to accommodate the growing needs of a growing organization.
